Just who is The Frio River Band?
The Frio River Band – Early Days (1998 – 2009):
The Frio River Band began in the spring of 1998 with the first show at a little dive bar in southern Smith County called TC’s. Since that first show, FRB has continued to evolve and improve as a band into what we are today.
Along the way some of East Texas’ finest musicians have shared our stage, and we continue to have one of the most electrifying live shows in East Texas.
The New Age (2010 – 2019):
In 2012 with the addition of Dave Davis on lead guitar FRB solidified the core lineup. Dave (or “Dr Shred” as we like to call him) added the rock element to the show that had been missing up until that point.
Then, in 2015, we saw the addition of our first fiddle player. What a difference that made to our live shows! We were able to showcase our country side so much better.
The Frio River Band 2025: New Beginnings
2024 has seen several changes in the band makeup. First, Richard left FRB after 3 years to pursue other interests, and second injury sidelined Nathan from November through the end of the year.
The search for a bass player commenced immediately once Nathan was healed up. The band interviewed several candidates, but none really met the “personality compatibility” test that the band was seeking. And then the New Year came, and there was a knock in our inbox from a guy wanting to get together to see if we could make a little music. We sat down with him, and Lo and Behold…we knew immediately this was our guy! We didn’t even wait until dinner was over to offer him the job!
SO… it’s with GREAT PRIDE…The Frio River Band announces the newest member of the family…Mr. Riley Dyer! Riley comes from Hawkins, TX and has a lot of experience playing both live and, in the studio. We are starting rehearsals for the 2025 show…and TRUST US…you ain’t going to want to miss one!!!
